Portland
Road Trip: Portland to Seattle
On Friday, May 27th we got up and around and drove the final 3 1/2 hour leg of the trip to our new home in Bothell, WA (just outside of Seattle). It was a pretty uneventful drive to be honest. Except that we totally missed the “Welcome to Washington” sign! We were so bummed too! About 30 minutes into the drive I started looking at the map to get a good idea of when we would be crossing over state lines. And apparently, we are kinda stupid! You see, Portland is pretty much on the state line. So, we obviously crossed into WA first thing that morning and neither of us even noticed it. I imagine we were both busy watching road signs so we didn’t miss any exits, etc. and we just overlooked the huge Welcome sign! Really?!
So now, before we move, we have to drive either south or east at some point to get a picture with the darned sign. Even if it’s on our way to the next assignment and we have to turn around a re-enter and then turn back around to leave again…we will get our freakin’ picture! I mean how lame is it that out of driving through Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Oregon, and Washington all in the last year…that we only have pictures of ourselves entering one state, Oregon!
Our first day in the Pacific Northwest looked like all other move in days. Unload the U-Haul & return to a dealer, order pizza delivery, unpack, and get cable & internet installed. This was the first time so far out of all of our travel assignments that we got to move in so early. We had 5 days to unpack, settle in, and explore our new city before Skyler had to be at work. It was so nice for a change to not have to rush around and cram everything in one or two days! Once we got settled in, we didn’t waste any time before we headed out for our first day of adventures in Seattle…
