The Penthouse at the Huntley Hotel
Sky planned a little date night for us on Friday evening. One of the nurses he works with told him about The Penthouse Restaurant at the Huntley Hotel on Santa Monica Beach. It was very cool! A super sleek and swanky atmosphere and decor, with beautiful 18th story ocean views. It was definitely breathtaking, and perfect for a dressed up date night out on the town! Sky and I don’t do the whole fancy dressed up thing too often, but every now and then it is a special treat. Does it get any better than sipping on a glass of wine while staring out at this?
The hotel lobby itself was very hip and contemporary. As we stepped off of the glass elevator into The Penthouse, we both fell in love with the elegant white and silver decor scheme. As the sun set, the floor to ceiling branch and tea light art pieces illuminated the corners of the lounge. The booths along one of the walls of windows are intimate with sheer curtains draping their corners and gorgeous chandeliers overhead.
We arrived during their happy hour and sat at the bar. We shared their Jalapeno Sliders and Pommes Frites. They were both incredible, and only $7 each! It was definitely a lovely way to kick-start our weekend!
On our way out, I stopped off in the ladies room…and there was even a view from there! Check it out:
In true ‘old married couple’ fashion, we were home and in our PJ’s by 8:30pm! ha!
We decided to see what all the hype was about and finally watched the movie Twilight on OnDemand. I can’t believe I actually gave in! All this time I have maintained my anti vampire attitude…and it only took one night to get me hooked. That’s right, I’m officially a member of team Edward! We rented New Moon the next day. I want to see Eclipse, but apparently it’s not out for rent yet, and is no longer showing in theaters. So I have to wait. Everybody keeps telling me to read the books, so I’m thinking I will tackle them next…
