Yesterday: Work & Good-Bye’s

Monday night I got a call from the temp agency that they had a client needing somebody to answer the phones the next day (yesterday) from 11:30-5:00. Now, of course every time I get a call for a job it happens to be when Skyler has off so we had planned on doing something fun. But, it was a job so I can’t complain. I told them I was in. They confirmed everything yesterday morning, and I worked yesterday afternoon at a company called Lexington Partners.

This job was a major change of pace from last weeks job. All I did was answer the phones. Other than that they told me I could read a book or play on the internet. Pretty easy if you ask me! I learned my lesson to always bring a book on temp assignments moving forward. There are only so many things you can look up online before it gets boring! :) But I was pretty thrilled with having a job…and an easy one at that! It’s a bummer that we are about to move, because they need somebody for 6 weeks beginning the week we move to cover for maternity leave. Oh well!

So after work yesterday, I rushed home and changed and Skyler and I met our friends John and Jessica at Gordon Biersch Restaurant and Brewery in downtown San Jose for dinner. They finish up their assignment this week and are headed back home to Kentucky on Saturday. We got to hang out with them a few times over the past couple of months, and have really enjoyed their company! A very sweet couple! And they are travel nursing the smart way…both of them are nurses. Cha Ching! Oh how I wish I would have gotten a different degree in college!

Anyway, good-byes are always a bit sad, but we are pretty sure we will all end up in the same city again sometime over the course of the next few years. And I know they are super homesick and ready to see their families. With them leaving it has been a good reminder to us that our time here is quickly winding down too! Less than 3 weeks and we will be on our way to who knows where!

I think Sky and I are both pretty anxious to move this time. Although, the weather is finally getting nice so we are starting to enjoy it more. We are disappointed that we haven’t done as much here as we had hoped, but the weather and pocket book just didn’t permit for so many excursions. We have talked about maybe trying to take a short 4-8 week assignment in San Francisco again eventually when the weather is nice so we can see a few more things that we missed out on. And we still have quite a few adventures packed into our final weeks up here. So stay tuned for some cool posts to come! And all prayers for a good next assignment are very appreciated (think San Diego, think San Diego).
